SBA Casino Night for SJT Community Projects with Superb Range of Top Auction Prizes

The wheel of fortune will be spinning for Scarborough’s Stephen Joseph Theatre in a magical fund-raiser at the Opera House Casino.

Proceeds from the event organised by Scarborough Business Ambassadors in partnership with the casino on Friday November 9 will go towards the theatre’s Outreach Programme. 

Top auction prizes will include a week’s stay at a villa in Cyprus, afternoon tea on the House of Commons Terrace, Alpamare tickets, breaks at award-winning luxury accommodation from Studford Luxury Lodges and the chance to be a VIP guest at the Tour de Yorkshire in the Scarborough or Bridlington venues next May.

The roulette spectacular will have a Casino Royale theme, and include fizz and canapes. There will also be entertainment with a magician and vocalist prior to the auction, which will be conducted by David Duggleby auctioneers.

Peter Wilkinson, chairman of the Scarborough Business Ambassadors, said: “We are extremely pleased to be supporting the community-engaging activities of the theatre to help its community engagement activity with students and organisations.

“It has had the most successful two years and we are pleased to help extend its community programme, and to be working in conjunction with the Opera House Casino.”

Janet Deacon, borough council tourism manager and area director of Welcome to Yorkshire, who has organised the event with Business Ambassador director Jo Thompson, said: “The SJT is an amazing venue and its work to promote culture on the coast is outstanding. The Outreach Programme works with, in and for the community, encouraging people to engage with the culture through projects, courses, classes and work experience providing access to all.

“I would really like to thank all the kind businesses who have supported this event through donation of prizes to raise money for this valuable facility.”
